13-FT POWER CATAMARANS PREPARE FOR 600-MILE ADVENTURE TRIP
On Monday morning, August 15th, two 13-foot power catamarans are scheduled to depart from the Port of Everett Marina on the six-day, 600-mile "Aksano Adventure Trip". Powered by 50 HP Honda engines and piloted by the principals of Monroe, Washington-based Aksano Catamarans, the sexy, sport "cats" will strut their stuff on this impressive run up British Columbia's Inside Passage.
"The trip may sound crazy for this small of a boat, but this is not a stunt," explained Oguz Aksan, one of the pilots and holder of long-distance power "cat" records. "Our goal is to introduce boaters to our incredibly stable and durable, performance boats."
While Aksano Catamarans' F-3 production boats are new to the scene, these turn key trailer boats serve as great sport runabouts, family boats and yacht tenders. They have attracted national media attention and have garnered top reviews from boating publications such as Boating, Power of Multihulls, Nor'Westing, The Power Boating Tribune, and Naviga [TK].
On the Aksano adventure trip, Aksan and partner Shaun Magruder will pilot the tough little boats from Everett, through Deception Sound and the San Juan Islands before traveling through the Canadian Gulf Islands to Nanaimo, British Columbia. After crossing the Strait of Georgia, these seasoned skippers will navigate to the north end of Vancouver Island.
The trip has already attracted excellent support from a number a sponsors including Honda Marine, Fisheries Supply, Revchem Plastics, Metyx, Decusoft, Autographics, and The Power Boating Tribune. Many publications stand poised to report on the pairs' daring and the catamarans' achievement.
