AN AKSANO F-3 IS ONE OF A FEW PRODUCTION BOATS THAT REALLY INCORPORATES FULL COMPOSITE CONSTRUCTION. THE ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING TEAM CAREFULLY SELECTS CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS TO GUARANTEE THAT THE BEST POSSIBLE MATERIAL IS USED FOR EACH PHASE OF CONSTRUCTION.

COMPOSITE CONTRUCTION:
ALL COMPOSITE PARTS ARE BUILT WITH ISO NPG GELCOATS AND THEN SKINNED WITH VINYLESTER RESINS. AFTER THIS LAYER IS FULLY CURED, WE THEN START THE LAY UP PHASE. IN LAY UP WE USE SPECIALLY SEWN BI AXIAL FIBERS. THIS MATERIAL ALLOWS THE FABRIC TO CONFORM TO THE CONTOURS OF THE HULL AND DECK WITH NO LARGE VOIDS. AFTER THIS PHASE WE USE ½" HONEYCOMB STRUCTURAL CORE ON THE ENTIRE RUNNING SURFACE OF THE BOAT. WHEN YOU HIT THE BOTTOM OF THE HULL, THE F-3 WILL NOT EVEN BUDGE. THIS SAME PROCESS IS USED ON BOTH THE HULL AND THE DECK.

INJECTION FOAMING:
BEFORE WE START INJECTION FOAMING WE PRE-FOAM THE BOW AND STERN TO ASSURE WE LEAVE NO VOIDS. THIS ALLOWS US TO SEE THE EXPANSION OF THE FOAM AND GIVES COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE PROCESS.

AFTER THE PRE-FOAMING IS DONE ON THE HULL AND THE DECK THEY WILL JOIN TOGETHER WITH HIGH STRENGTH RESINS. FROM THIS PHASE ON, THE BONDING AREA BETWEEN THE HULL AND DECK IS VERY LARGE AND WIDELY SPREAD.

ONCE THE TWO PIECES ARE BONDED, WE START THE INJECTION PHASE BY DRILLING A ½ HOLE EVERY 6" AROUND THE WHOLE PERIMETER OF THE BOAT. BY THIS TIME, THE INJECTION FOAMING IS DONE ONLY ON SMALL VOLUMES THAT ARE EASIER TO CONTROL BY TIMING INJECTION INTERVALS.

ONCE INJECTION IS COMPLETED ON EACH PORT, WE WAIT UNTIL THE FOAM FORCES OUT FROM THE PORT HOLES. THEN WE MOVE ON TO THE NEXT PORT HOLE AND SO ON UNTIL THE ENTIRE PERIMETER IS INJECTED.

OUR TRANSOMS ARE MADE OF SOLID SPACE AGE CORE. THIS IS VERY HIGH DENSITY FOAM THAT IS REINFORCED WITH FIBERS. THE CORE IS OVERLAID AGAIN WITH THE SAME TYPE OF BIAXIAL FIBERS.
